IamSmarticus's Blog

How did I come up with this name? I’d heard it for the first time on “The Einstein Factor” and I’ve liked it since. But that couldn’t be the only basis on which I decide upon my username, now could it? So, I did what I always do. I googled the term, and I came across two definitions on urbandictionary:

1. A smart-ass term used when someone has done something extremely stupid.
2. If you are Smarticus, you are very, very very smart!

I’m sure I wont be the only one who’ll notice that both of these are at the opposite ends of a continuum.

Next, I love classics – both movies and music. And though, I have to admit that I hadn’t seen SPARTACUS when I was deliberating on what to name my blog, and did see it later, I did know that the movie chronicles the essence of rebellion against oppression. To cut the long story short, when the roman authorities capture the slaves and ask them to identify Spartacus and thus, be eligible for a more lenient punishment, all the slave instead choose to stand up and proclaim “I AM SPARTACUS” thereby choosing to share Spartacus’ fate.

So, the name – Smarticus – depicts my wackiness in all it’s glory! I have moments of brilliance, true. (Modesty never really serves any purpose other than misdirecting the rest of the world about who you are.) But, those moments are most definitely compensated by my hours of madness! And I fully embrace both these aspects of my personality – because that is what makes me who I am.

Any other aspects of my personality will be evident in the posts that will be put up here. Or you can check out my Facebook page for a much more detailed essay about “MYSELF”

Cheerios mates!
